Mary Maden, a resident of Kitty Hawk since 1984, is a published author of 11 books, including a series of children’s books focused on local history.

As an OBX resident for 24 years and a self-professed addict of local history, Mary is a natural fit to write about the rich history of the Outer Banks. 

Mary was recently selected to write a serial column for the Bristol Herald Courier about the Wright Brothers’ first flight.  The column will run in Friday additions of the paper through May 8^th, and is titled “Dreams Come True:  The Story of the Wright Brothers’ First Flight.”
