A recent article in The Ledger Independent, a local Kentucky newspaper, does a great job of highlighting many of the great attractions the OBX has to offer.
The article highlights…
· The abundance of great local food
· Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets (over the ocean in the a.m. and the Sound in the p.m.)
· Unique collection of lighthouses
· Significant historic relevance
· Wide variety of outdoor activities
· Some Outer Banks facts
It is a good read for all OBX enthusiasts, and a great reminder of all there is to see and do on the Outer Banks. For a more extensive list, please view the Seaside Vacations Top 100 Things To Do on Vacation.
Spring Surf on the Outer Banks
An offshore weather system pushed swell towards the Outer Banks late last week and into the weekend.
Thursday and Friday were a bit messy with a lot of water moving around but not many clean lines. Saturday, however, was the right combination of ingredients. The water is still chilly, but the air temp was in the upper 60’s on Saturday, the wind and waves cooperated for some classic OBX waves, and favorite Outer Banks surf spots had their share of wetsuit clad surfers…some even hoodless. The waves were pushing double-overhead in some spots.
Here’s a local photographer that was able to get some great black and white shots of the action.
