Free Watercolor Exhibit on the Outer Banks

A free watercolor exhibit is on display at the Roanoke Island Festival Park throughout July.

The Browning family has long roots on the Outer Banks.  Dixie Browning was raised on Hatteras Island in the 30′s and 40′s.  She describes her paintings as places in which to wander rather than see.  She is the co-founder of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina.  Dixie also spends some of her time writing romance and mystery novels.  Her Daughter-in-law, Linda, has also taken up the art of painting and selected watercolor as her medium of choice.
