Hot Dogging is Serious Business on the Outer Banks

The Outer Banks Voice recently covered a polarizing topic, the wiener.  Love them or hate, hotdogs, like the Outer Banks, are a symbol of summer fun.

It’s rare to be outside during the winter enjoying a dog, and most fancy dinners don’t offer beenies and weenies.  Almost by default, if you’re enjoying a hotdog, you’re probably in a pretty casual environment, and considering that it doesn’t get much more casual than the OBX, wieners and the Outer Banks seem like a great match.

Capt’n Franks sure thinks so.  Capt’n Franks is a long-standing OBX icon that proudly caters to hotdog lovers.  After three decades, the owners have determined the Capt’n needs a signature dog, and they are going above and beyond with this wiener creation.

Capt’n Franks has joined forces with the Weeping Radish Farm Brewery in Grandy to create a beef and pork dog that is crafted from grass fed, free-range animals raised in North Carolina and seasoned with a secret blend of 12 spices.  That’s right, an organic dog with a secret recipe created in-state; this is not your average wiener!

I have to admit, I’m not a big hotdog person, but Capt’n Franks may have won me over with this one…definitely worth a try.
