235 years ago today, in a small tavern in Philadelphia, a group of men gathered for the purpose of raising a small group that would be charged with defense of life and liberty. That small group of men grew into the United States Marine Corps.
So…there you have it. Let a bunch of guys go to the bar with a purpose, and greatness ensues!
If you live with, work with, or know a Marine (there is no such thing as a “former Marine”), please wish him or her a very happy 235th Birthday. Even if you don’t, please take a moment today to think about all of the Marines serving at home and abroad.
Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful)
“Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference. Marines don’t have that problem.” – Ronald Reagan
“The Marine I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

great piece
Thanks Bill.
