My father lives on Hatteras Island (Avon) and informed me that the road north of Rodanthe is complete gone. North Carolina has declared a state of emergency and is working on getting the Dept of Trans to set the ferry's to run from Rodanthe to Mans harbor.

Hi Kyra,

The best bet is to use the link to the webcam in the post from yesterday: www.co.dare.nc.us/webcam/mirlo.php

As far as we know, it is still standing.

Thanks,
Seaside Vacations

The bridge has been a long time coming. I would pay $50.00 each way if it would cut out the almost 2 hours of travel time.

Many locals are fearful of what the bridge will bring with it, but I think one thing is for certain. Once the construction starts, the property values on the Currituck Outer Banks will go through the roof.
