9 years?!  Can you believe it’s already been 9 years for the Outer Banks Bike Week?  Time flies.  And the event just keeps getting bigger and better.

2010 marked the first year Bike Week ran for eight days. Thursday had been the traditional kickoff day in prior years. This gave the bikers more time to get in the longer guided tours, extended rally activities and the area attractions. And for 2011 the OBX Bike Week is being extended to include 2 full weekends (9 days)!

Outer Banks Bike Week

Outer Banks Bike Week

The springtime weather after a long winter makes this biker paradise the perfect getaway. The Outer Banks area runs from southern Currituck County, to its northern beaches of Duck and Corolla, through Dare County and the towns of Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head, over to Roanoke Island, Mann’s Harbor and then further south to Hatteras and Ocracoke Island. The venue is spread out enough to ride without any crowd or traffic concerns but intimate enough to make friends for life.

Like any good bike rally, Outer Banks Bike Week™ has more than enough activities and entertainment to keep riders going all week. The rally events are all free due to the local business sponsors who have been extremely enthusiastic and generous in supporting this growing event during the spring.

Updates on 2011 events coming soon.

Proud Sponsor of Outer Banks Bike Week 2009- Harley Owners Group

The 7th Annual Outer Banks Bike Week is drawing near. April 23 – 26, 2009

The OBX Bike Week is the largest motorcycle event in North Carolina, and this year promises to be bigger than ever.

Seaside Vacations is the proud sponsor of the local Harley Owners Group (HOG) who is teaming with the Kitty Hawk Harley Davidson Dealership to help promote the 2009 Bike Week.

Seaside Vacations has donated a complimentary stay at Saltaire in Kitty Hawk for a HOG raffle during Bike Week.

Great vacation rental homes still available starting as low as $30 per night / per person.

Outer Banks Harley Davidson Dealership

Kitty Hawk Harley  The Outer Banks is better known for gorgeous beaches than gorgeous motorcycles, but it seems these two objects of affection have a lot in common.

The same qualities that make the Outer Banks a great beach vacation also create a great opportunity for a bike trip.  OBX is a great environment for a motorcycle road trip; beautiful natural scenery, long stretches of road that run along the beach, mild weather, and great local businesses that are very friendly to bikers.  The Outer Banks’ biker-friendly environment is highlighted by the upcoming Outer Banks Bike Week in April.

Another highlight of the growing Outer Banks motorcycle culture is the great success of the local Harley Davidson dealership.  Maurice Slaughter, who is the owner of four dealerships in Northeastern North Carolina and Southeast Virginia, has created some of the top Harley Davidson dealerships in the nation.  His story is particularly unique due to the fact that he is the first African American Harley Davidson store owner in the history of the company.  Through hard work and dedication, he has succeeded in building some of the most successful stores in the Harley Davidson world.  Both his Portsmouth and Kitty Hawk Stores place in the top 10 in the nation for 2008.  It is said that his Bayside megastore in Portsmouth is a must see for any motorcycle enthusiast. Slaughter attributes much of his success to his family upbringing and his education at Southern University in Louisiana.

The Outer Banks Bike Week is just around the corner, and great vacation rentals are still available.
