Ready for a trip with the girls?

Every so often a girl really needs to have time away with the ladies. They need some time to relax on the beach, have a glass of wine, do some shopping and plan some fun activities with girlfriends. Well if this sounds like something you are in the mood for, its time to plan your next trip to the Outer Banks.

Here at Seaside we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to share in part of such a unique experience of learning how to cook local Outer Banks cuisine through our Club Seaside program. The Outer Banks Epicurean cooking classes are relaxed, fun ways to learn new culinary tricks and taste fresh local harvests, catches and specialty items. Participants will be offered generous tastes and samples of all recipes in all classes.

Why not do some wine tasting and learn to prepare a summer meal of country ham, saged stuffed shrimp skewers, jumbo lump crab cakes, and fresh berry tart? You can enjoy a fresh Outer Banks meal and take all the tips and tricks back home with you to your family and friends to show off!

Our friend Amy at the Outer Banks Epicurean sent us over some pictures of a fun group of gals from New York who wanted to relax and unwind in celebration of an upcoming OBX wedding. The coolest part is they planned the whole thing from Manhattan and everything was set up for them when they got here! The girls even made an entirely vegetarian meal of spring rolls and lasagna with homemade pasta.

For more information on the Outer Banks Epicurean or to set up a class, visit their website and get ready for a fun new twist to your “Girls Only” trip to the Outer Banks.

P.S- Don’t forget that this Saturday May 14th is the Colington Crab Classic from 3-7. Go check it out and go Team Outer Banks!

Photography Classes with Renowned Outer Banks Photographer Brooke Mayo

Brooke Mayo Photography
Brooke Mayo Photography

Brooke Mayo is a local Outer Banks photographer, but her reach goes well beyond of the OBX.  Brooke is ranked number 7 worldwide by The Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalist, and she recently published a hardback book of photographs called Diving Doggies: A Celebration of Play Underwater.  Using underwater camera equipment, she takes pictures of pups diving and playing in the pool from a ground up perspective; i.e. lying on the bottom of the pool.

Brooke is offering three great photography workshops in the next few weeks.

In addition to a wealth of photography related information, Brooke has such a fun personality that a workshop with her will hardly feel like a class…more like hanging out with a best friend.

Mother & Daughter Valentine’s Day on the Outer Banks

Valentine’s Day usually focuses on “lovers” more so than “loved ones,” but the Hallmark holiday is really about the celebration of love in all its forms.  And what better way to celebrate love than with some mother/daughter fun?!

Renee Landry, an amazing floral and event designer on the Outer Banks, is offering a super fun Mommy & Daughter Valentine’s class. Details below.

Renee was one of three finalists for Obama’s Chief White House Florist position, and I can also brag about Renee from personal experience….she was the florist for my wedding, and according to my wife (the true expert), the floral arrangements were out of this world.

As an added bonus, Renee will be a new addition to Club Seaside this year!…a complimentary design class offered to Seaside Vacations guests! Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
