The Outer Banks is a well-known surf destination, arguably the best surf local on the East Coast, and on great days it can rival most spots worldwide.

As a result of the consistent great surf, many locals grow up with surf in their blood, and a small group of natives have developed their craft into a “Professional” status.

This small group of pros recently zipped off on a surf trip together and Eastern Surf Magazine tagged along to snap some great photos and get the guys to gossip about each other.

Eastern Surf Magazine has put together a rad 3 part series titled “Snap Back: Banks Shots,” that chronicles the progression of the surfing culture on the Outer Banks. The series offers great pictures from as early as the 1960′s through today setup in a slide show format with audio commentary by some of the legends that make the OBX surf culture so great.

Local Outer Banks Surfer (Jesse Hines) Makes the Cover of Surfer Magazine!

OBX local and professional surfer, Jesse Hines, graces the cover of the January 2009 edition of Surfer Magazine. This is a huge accomplishment for any surfer, and the dream of all “groms” (grom = young surfer) practicing the fine art of wave sliding.

Jesse grew up on the Outer Banks and fine-tuned his surfing prowess at the breaks in his backyard…yet another example of the world-class quality of the Outer Banks waves.

Jesse recently sat down with the Outer Banks Sentinel for a great interview.

In addition to the January edition of Surfer, Jesse Hines is also on the cover of the January 2009 issue of Eastern Surf Magazine (ESM).
