Town of Nags Head 15th Annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular

This event is back and better than ever! Zambelli Fireworks will present the program, promising unforgettable fireworks.

The following public beach accesses are recommended for access to the beach for fireworks viewing:

Town of Duck 7th Annual 4th of July Parade

July 4, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. the parade beings with  a concert and community social following at the Duck Town Park featuring music by Ruth Wyand and Friends, refreshments, the awarding of parade trophies, and a flash mob dance routine.

The one-mile parade route is the same annually and begins at the crest of the hill on Scarborough Lane. The route follows Scarborough Lane towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then heads down Christopher Drive ending back at Duck Road (NC 12). If you are attending the parade, please arrive early so you can get a good spot on the parade route.  Parking in Town is at a premium, so please plan to walk or ride your bicycle and come early for the best spots!

Rodanthe Independence Day Celebration

July 4, 2011 2 p.m at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building, 23186 Myrna Peters Dr., Rodanthe, NC.

Come out and enjoy patriotic music, a reading of the Deceleration of Independence and a watermelon feast. This is a FREE event!

America Celebrates! July 4th Fireworks with the Town of Manteo

July 4, 2011 8 p.m. at the Outdoor Pavilion at Roanoke Island Festival Park

Don’t miss this spectacular July 4th tradition on the Outer Banks! Roanoke Island Festival Park, the Town of Manteo, and NCSA invite you to honor our nation’s independence and freedom with an evening of patriotic music and dazzling fireworks. NCSA’s Jazz Ensembleand Friends, featuring vocalist Becca Stevens, and members of the NCSA American Music Ensemble join together to presentan evening of patriotic melodies.  Admission is free.

Corolla 4th of July Celebration

July 4, 2011 5:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Currituck Heritage Park in Corolla

Load up the car with blankets and chairs and come enjoy live music followed by a fireworks spectacular at 9 p.m. Admission and parking is free. The event is sponsored by the Currituck County Department of Travel and Tourism.

*Locals Tip: If you are looking for the best seat in the house make sure you visit Jockey’s Ridge State Park, which will be open late on July 4th for firework viewing.

The Town of Manteo’s 2010 4th of July Celebration!
Festivities start at 2:00 p.m. with performances by: 

  • Tshombe Selby – singing the national anthem! 
  • Echoes of Heritage – our local a cappella music group!
  • Ray Johnson - popular karaoke music! 

3:00 p.m. Exciting & Fun Events –  Prizes Awarded

  • Apple Pie contest - bake your favorite pie and let the judges decide! 
  • Decorated Bike Contest - decorate your ride! 
  • Wacky Hat Contest – the craziest hat wins!

 JULY 4th - 18th ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE DAY FESTIVAL OF FIREWORKS at the Whalehead Club in Corolla - Sunday, 6 pm to 10 pm

Fireworks begin at dusk but arrive early to enjoy food, fun activities, fabulous music and find a place for your blankets and chairs to settle in for the best fireworks on the Outer Banks!  Sponsored by the Currituck County Department of Travel and Tourism.  Admission and Parking are free.

The Whalehead Club will be open from 12 noon till 8pm on this day for tours.  Due to Fireworks display, the boat ramp at Currituck Heritage Park will be closed Sunday, July 4, 2010. www.whaleheadclub.com .

The Town of Duck’s Independence Day Parade – July 5th

Independence Day Parade 9:00 a.m.- The one-mile parade route is the same annually. It begins at the crest of the hill past the back parking lot on Scarborough Lane. The route will turn left onto Ocean Way and then turn left again onto Christopher Drive. The parade will end on the corner of Christopher Drive and Duck Road (NC12). Remember, NO PART OF THE PARADE IS ON DUCK ROAD (NC 12). And parking in Town is at a premium, so please plan to walk or ride your bicycle, and get here early!

The sixth annual parade will have an after-event following at the Town Park featuring music by Ruth Wyand & Friends. If you are attending the parade, please arrive early so you can get a good spot on the parade route.

Cochran to Perform at July 4 Celebration

Currituck County’s 17th Annual Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display will be highlighted by a concert by country music star Stephen Cochran. The celebration, set for Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Currituck Heritage Park in Corolla, will get underway at 5:00 p.m. It will also include a fireworks display, children’s games and activities, and food vendors, as well as live music by local band The Boomerangs.

Stephen Cochran’s performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the fireworks show to start at dusk. Cochran, a decorated Marine veteran who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, released his latest single, “Wal-Mart Flowers,” on April 13. The single is currently climbing the country music charts.

Admission to the event is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit Thanks USA, a non-profit organization that provides post-secondary, need-based educational scholarships to children and spouses of active-duty U.S. military personnel.

* NO ALCOHOL will be permitted on the grounds of Currituck Heritage Park,

* NO ON-STREET PARKING will be available, and

* The boat ramp at the Whalehead Club will be CLOSED on July 4.

* No fireworks are allowed on Currituck County property other than those provided by the Independence Day Celebration. Fireworks use on private property also has limitations. Currituck County adheres to state law, which states it is illegal for any person to use, ignite, or explode any firecracker, torpedo, sky rocket, sparkler or other device that explodes, rises into the air or travels laterally, or fires projectiles. This ban does not pertain to hand-held wire sparklers, glow worms, party poppers or string poppers, which are legal.
