The Wingo de Mayo Festival is always a blast. Perfect time of year, as the weather starts to get hot, great people, great food, great music, and great adult beverages!

When: Saturday, May 7th
Where: Native Vine in Point Harbor.

This year’s event will benefit the Outer Banks Children At Play Museum, a non-profit organization that helps foster creativity in children through hands on learning.

The festivities will feature two separate events -the 6th Annual Wine and Beer Jam and the 3rd Annual Great Wing Cook Off.

The Wine and Beer Jam (12-5pm) offers more than 50 wines and beers from around the world. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day off.

The Great Wing Cook Off pits local restaurants and individuals against each other in the battle for the best wings. Guests can sample the wings and vote on their favorites! Tickets for the Wing Cook Off are $10 over 12 years, $5 8-12 years, and free under 8, and can only be purchased the day of the event.

Advance tickets for the Wine and Beer Jam are available at Native Vine, Chillli Peppers, Children At Play or online at www.nativevine.com. Children are welcome and there is no charge for those not tasting wine and beer or tasting wings.

Live music will be performed by Augmentals and OminOtago.

The Wingo De Mayo wine and beer jam is this weekend, May 8th and 9th!  Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of and are now on sale at Native Vine 

On Saturday, May 8th, the Wine and Beer Jam will host the 2nd Annual Wingo de Mayo Wing Cookoff!.  The wing tasting tickets are $10 and are now available as well. 

Under 21 may purchase Wing Tasting tickets AND attend the Wine and Beer Jam free, but of course cannot imbibe.  

There will be a separate “grand reserve tasting” for $25 during the festival that you won’t want to miss!

Also, just booked, Mojo Collins as one of the bands on Saturday.  Mojo Collins has played with or opened for Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin and Big Brother & the Holding Company, Steve Miller, Santana, The Grateful Dead, Ike and Tina Turner, Muddy Waters, Leon Redbone, Sly and the Family Stone, Blue Cheer, The Spinners, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs, Keith Shealy, and Stevie Ray Vaughan!

The Wingo de Mayo Festival will take place on Sunday, May 3rd, at Native Vine in Point Harbor.  The Festival is co-produced by Native Vine and Chilli Peppers and will include a tasting of more than 60 wine and beers from around the world AND The Great Wing Cook-off!  The Wing Cook-off will match some of the Outer Bank’s best restaurants’ secret wing recipes against each other.  There will also be a “home kitchen” category.  Entry fee for the cook off  is $25 per team.  More info on the Wing Cook-off can be found here.Some parking is available onsight, while the remainder of the parking will be next door at Mermaids lot and field.  There is no charge for parking.Proceeds from this event benefit the Beach Food Pantry, which helps feed needy families in Dare and Currituck counties.

This event is kid-friendly…..if you have friendly kids!  No dogs please.
