Good morning. Here’s your OBX Moment of Zen for Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

This video was shot at the Kitty Hawk Pier at 8:30 AM.

Starting to feel like spring. Even smells like spring today. Warm sun, 65 degrees, light offshore breeze out of the southwest. This weather will stick with us for a few days…could hit 70 tomorrow!

The offshore breeze is cleaning up a tiny longboard wave, but it’s only in the knee high range.

OBX fishing is slow, but warm water and spring fish will be here soon. Skate and dog fish at Jennette’s Pier, tuna offshore, and piers reopening this month.

Good morning. Here’a the Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing Report for Tuesday, March 13, 2012.

This video was shot at the Lillian St. beach access in Kitty Hawk at 9:00 AM.

It’s a wet day with light rain and a chance of thunderstorms, but it’s warm with temps at 65 and a light offshore breeze out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.

The rain will move off today, but the warm temps and southwest breeze will stick around all week, and the sun will jump back out tomorrow.

Nice clean longboard wave in the water this morning. The offshore breeze will keep the surf clean all week, but it will be small in the knee to waist range. Nice longboard wave if you have an itch to get in the water.

OBX fishing continues to be slow. Skate and dog fish at Jennette’s Pier and tuna offshore. The good news is the Piers will be opening this month. Spring fish should be here soon.

Outer Banks: 3.9.12 - Clouds, but Calm & Warm at Kitty Hawk Pier

Good morning. Here’s your OBX Moment of Zen for Friday, March 9, 2012.

This video was shot just south of the Kitty Hawk Pier at 8:30 AM.

Overcast with some showers through the day, but is warm with temps at 60, calm with a light breeze and fresh salt air.

Sun returns tomorrow, but temps dip to 50 and wind picks up out of the north. Wind slows down and temps bounce back to 60 for Sunday and heading into next week.

A little swell in the water this morning. Maybe a longboard wave at the right spot. Swell picks up with that strong wind tomorrow. Clean waves to start next week?

Outer Banks fishing continues to be slow. Dog fish at Jennette’s Pier and tuna offshore.

Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing Report: 3.8.12 – Perfect March Day

Outer Banks: 3.8.12 - Gorgeous in Kitty Hawk

Outer Banks: 3.8.12 - Gorgeous in Kitty Hawk

Good morning. Here’s the Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing Report for Thursday, March 8, 2012.

This video was shot at 9:00 AM at the Kitty Hawk Bath House.

It is a gorgeous March day. Bright sun, blue skies, a light offshore breeze and temps at 65. March perfection.

We’ll see some clouds and a few showers tomorrow, but temps will stay around 60, and the sun returns for the weekend. Temps will dip to about 50 for Saturday, but jump back to the 60′s by Sunday and heading into next week.

Unfortunately, not much surf to report. I was hoping to see more swell in the water when I walked over the dunes this morning, but there’s not much going on. The swell should build over the next few days, but the wind won’t match up to clean the waves. Looking at the extended forecast, it seems like we could have some clean waist high waves to start next week. Fingers crossed…we’ll keep an eye on it.

OBX fishing continues to be slow. Skate and dog fish at Jennette’s Pier and some tuna offshore, but overall it has been a slow winter for Outer Banks fishing.

Good morning. Here’s your OBX Moment of Zen for Wednesday, February 7, 2012.

This video was shot just north of the Avalon Pier at the Hayman St. beach access at 8:20 AM.

Gorgeous day. Feels like spring with bright sun, blue skies, almost no wind, fresh salt air, and 60 degree temps. This weather will stick with us to close out the week.

A little wave coming through today. Could be a longboard wave at the right spot as long as the wind stays slow. Cloud have a clean waist high wave Thursday and Friday morning.

Outer Banks fishing continues to be slow.

Outer Banks: 3.6.12 - Pretty, but Cool in Kill Devil Hills

Outer Banks: 3.6.12 - Pretty, but Cool in Kill Devil Hills

Good morning. Here’s the Outer Banks Beach, Surf & Fishing Report for Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

This video was shot at the Sutton St. beach access in Kill Devil Hills at 8:45 AM.

It’s a pretty day with bright sun and blue skies, but it’s chilly with temps in the 40′s and a stiff northeast wind. Temps will get back to 60 tomorrow though.

Surf is a mess today with the strong NE wind. Looks like the surf could clean up Thursday and Friday when the wind switches offshore. Nothing big, but we could have clean waist high surf for a couple days.

OBX fishing continues to be slow. It’s been a slow winter for fishing. Skate and dog fish at Jennette’s Pier and some tuna offshore, but that’s about it.

Cool start to the week. Clouds, 50, and a southwest wind at 10 mph. Temps will be back to 60′s by the end of the week.

A little swell in the water, but not really a surf to be found. Swell should pick up through the week, but it could be a slow week for OBX surf.

OBX Moment of Zen: 3.2.12 – Warm Temps & Fresh Salt Air

Outer Banks: 3.2.12 - Fresh Salt Air at Kitty Hawk Pier

Outer Banks: 3.2.12 - Fresh Salt Air at Kitty Hawk Pier

Good morning. Here’s your OBX Moment of Zen for Friday, March 2, 2012.

This video was shot just south of the Kitty Hawk Pier at 8:45 AM.

Mix of sun and clouds today, temps in the 60′s, with a northeast wind bringing fresh salt air.

Warm temps will stick around tomorrow with temps around 70, but a cold front moves in on Sunday, and temps dip back to 50. Enjoy the taste of spring while it lasts.

Some swell, but the northeast wind us making the surf disorganized.

Slow fishing. Skate and dig fish at Jennette’s Pier and some tuna offshore.

Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing Report: 3.1.12 – Perfect Start to March

Outer Banks: 3.1.12 - Perfect Start to March

Outer Banks: 3.1.12 - Perfect Start to March

Good morning. Here’s the Outer Banks Beach, Surf, & Fishing Report for Thursday, March 1, 2012.

This video was shot at the Lillian St. beach access at 8:45 AM.

Perfect start to March. In like a lamb. Hopefully that doesn’t mean it will go out like a lion, but either way, we’ll enjoy what we have today.

Bright sun, blue skies, offshore breeze out of the southwest at 10 -15 mph, and 70 degrees! Perfection. This weather will stick with us for the weekend. Bright sun, an occasional thunderstorm, and temps in the 60′s. Great time to be at the beach.

Unfortunately, not much surf to report. I was hoping to see more swell when I walked over the dune this morning, but the ocean is flat. The tide is, so perhaps a better wave as the tide fades. My guess is there is a good longboard wave out there if you can find the right spot…Jennette’s Pier maybe? Good day to be out hunting waves.

OBX fishing continues to be slow. Skate and dog fish at Jennette’s Pier and some tuna offshore.
